Don’t you just love that new phone feel? We sure do. But let’s face it: a new phone can set you back quite a bit. Have no fear, however, we’ve got the perfect solution to feel like your device is brand new, without breaking bank. And that solution is: an Android wallpaper!
The greatest thing about having an Android phone has to be the ability to customize your device with the coolest personalization apps. There are plenty to choose from and with so many options out there on the Google Play store it can be hard to find the perfect app to give your device a fresh new look. We know this all too well, which is why we’ve decided to put together a list of the best wallpaper apps we’ve come across so far. From the minimalistic to the jam-packed, these are some of the greatest apps to bring your device to life with. So if it’s an Android wallpaper you’re looking for, then look no further then these apps.
Tapet is a unique wallpaper app, unlike any other app on this list, which is why it’s the first app on our list. What makes it so unique is the fact that it’s not really an android wallpaper app, but rather it’s a tool you can use to make your own Android wallpaper.
When you first open the app you can choose your favorite from a list of patterns and colors, and Tapet will automatically generate your wallpaper based on your choices. The app can also generate a design based on your screen resolution, which means you’ll get a clean, crisp wallpaper no matter what! What’s more, you also have the option to ‘tell’ the app to switch up your wallpaper several times a day, which means you’ll never get bored. You can also upgrade Tapet for $1, which will bring you more features and effects for your wallpaper.
Overall, Tapet has some amazing features that will give a new look and feel to your device with cool features that you won’t see with any other free Android wallpaper app.
2. Backdrops – Wallpapers
Backdrops is probably best known for its amazing UI and image categorization. And not without reason. The app was created with Material Design in mind which makes for some pretty amazing wallpapers.
While most other wallpaper apps offer the possibility to change the background image for your home screen only, Backdrops also lets you change your lock-screen image. You can even have different wallpapers for both. Possibly the coolest thing about Backdrops, however, is that you can upload your own wallpaper images and have other users rate and favorite them. If you sign in with your Google account you can also sync wallpapers between multiple devices. Another feature we can’t help but mention is the ‘Explore’ panel that shows you both free and premium wallpapers, and choose your favorite.
All in all, Backdrops is a fun app that offers cool designs both free and premium. Speaking of which, you can unlock the premium content for a one-time fee of $2. Definitely worth it, in our opinion though.
3. Minima – free -$0.99
Just as you’d expect from an app named Minima, it’s a minimalistic app that has some cool-looking wallpapers that remind us a bit of paper designs. The app has both a free version and a paid version, which will set you back $0.99.
If you’re looking for an emoji wallpaper app, you’d better move along because this is not for you. Minima combines Material Design and moving picture effects, like touch and tilt. We have to admit we love the flat colors look. You can let the app automatically select the colors included in your wallpaper, or change them to your favorite ones. Either way, Minima delivers amazing textures and fabric-like designs that will definitely bring your device to life.
Despite all of the above, you do need to keep an eye on your battery, as the app can be draining. Although this downside isn’t only true with Minima, but rather something you’ll encounter with all Android wallpaper apps. But if you don’t have a problem with charging your phone a bit more often, this app is definitely worth it.
4. Redraw Keyboard Emoji & Themes
Before you go judging a keyboard app by the number of wallpapers it doesn’t have, bear with us for a minute as we explain why Redraw deserve a spot on this list.
Needless to say Redraw Keyboard has a plethora of personalization features for your keyboard (shockingly!). But the fun doesn’t stop there, because its in-app library also includes some pretty cool wallpapers. From cute emoji wallpapers to futuristic designs, Redraw doubles as a wallpaper app with all the trimmings. Obviously, it doesn’t have some of the wallpaper customization features you get with some of the other apps on this list, but it makes up for that with HD designs that will make your device pop.
The upside to Redraw is the fact that you get a bunch more features with your wallpaper app. Aside from personalized keyboards, the app also offers some cool productivity tools in the form of Google Translate and Google Drive integration.
Now, as one man’s treasure is another man’s garbage, you might feel that the amount of features and customization options are a bit too much if you’re looking for just a simple, clean wallpaper app. But don’t knock it until you try it. Redraw could just surprise you, as it has us!
5. Backgrounds HD
If you’re into real-life landscapes and cool views, Backgrounds HD is the app for you. It’s been around for a while providing amazing Android wallpaper designs for over 100 million users.
The app offers a massive wallpaper library organized in 30 categories and also features a handy-dandy search bar. You can also view wallpapers from the app’s Featured, Recent, and Popular tabs, which can come in quite handy if you’re only looking for the latest and greatest. What’s more, you can filter images according to their quality.
Similarly to Backdrops, Backgrounds HD also lets you upload your own design into the app’s library, though you do need to sign in to do it. And you can set a different wallpaper for your lock screen and home screen, which we love.
At the end of the day, Backgrounds HD is a solid wallpaper app that offers everything under the sun, from cute emoji wallpapers to nature-inspired designs. With such a great pool of wallpapers to choose from, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for in no time at all!
6. ZEDGE™ Ringtones & Wallpapers
Among the apps on this list, Zedge is possibly the most popular, with almost 500 million downloads. As its name suggests, it is much more than a wallpaper app, offering a ton of personalization features like ringtones and new app icons.
You can search through different wallpaper categories, which includes themed collections that range from movies to sports events and beyond, to find the perfect one for you. Alternately, you can sign into the app and get access to ‘My Zedge’, a feature that lets you favorite wallpapers and ringtones, and have them handy at all times across any device.
Unlike other wallpaper apps, you can’t filter searches by image resolution, which can be a bit frustrating. That said, Zedge is an app that we’d definitely recommend to anyone looking for a lot of wallpaper options.
Unlike the other apps on this list, Wallrox doesn’t have quite as many design options, but it does make up for that with amazing quality. The app boasts a wide range of design patterns, textures, and gradients, which are as amazing as they sound!
Wallrox also has categories, but unlike other apps, the categories name the type and texture of the image, rather than what the image is about. For example, the Black & White category includes only black and white designs. What’s more you can apply the wallpaper in a flash with the app’s ‘quick apply’ feature. Wallrox also lets you zoom in, crop and save the wallpaper to your device.
When it comes to getting awesome HD Android wallpaper, you cannot go wrong with Wallrox. It may not be as fun as an emoji wallpaper app, but boy does it deliver on the designs!
We said it before and we’ll say it again, there are a lot of personalization options to choose from and finding the right one is not an easy task. These are just a few of our favorites at the moment, but we’d like to take the conversation over to you now. What do you think of our choices, did your favorite wallpaper app make the list? If not, let us know in the comment section; we’d love to check out your suggestions!
